It always rains on tents.  Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.

no prepared site?
look for a low impact campsite - on sandy or hard surfaces. use an existing one rather than cutting out or flattening a new one.

avoid digging trenches. a properly sited tent does not require trenches around it.
 
If possible try to camp not too far from a water source.
