| if you don't mind wind, a coastal walk can be very invigorating in winter. if you happen to be in the snowfields you'll enjoy the quiet of slushing through the snow - just make sure you tell someone where you are going and when you'll be back. don't divert from your plan and make sure you have plenty of spare clothing. inland australia can be very pleasant this time of the year. |

A wicking short or long sleeved tshirt style is best, topped by a thermal layer then fleece if it is cold; It might be cold when you start but hopefully you'll soon warm up. And if you sweat you don't want your clothes to get cold. warm gloves and a woolly hat are recommended - 80% of heat loss is through your head so keep it warm. |
